PETALUMA, Calif. – This year, CamelBak® athletes will run thousands of miles, descend hundreds of mountains by bike and rip epic-sized ski jumps with more confidence, knowing CamelBak has their “Bak.” CamelBak’s diverse roster of world class athletes will represent the leading hydration brand in competitions around the globe including the famed, Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc, Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour (FMB) and the Crankworx series, among others.
“We’ve seen the power of hydration in impacting performance,” said Kim Rogers, International Marketing Manager for CamelBak. “This year’s roster brings together athletes from a range of disciplines, all representing the power of hydration in some of the world’s most grueling and exhilarating competitions.”
After a long history of industry-leading alpine hydration packs, CamelBak has signed its first alpine athlete, Dennis Risvoll, a Freeride World Tour skier. CamelBak will support Dennis as he aims to break into the tour’s top three. 2017 will also bring the all-new Crux™ reservoir to CamelBak’s alpine packs – including the redesigned lowrider snow pack, Phantom™ LR 24.
Staying true to its roots on the bike, the CamelBak mountain bike roster is made up of some of the industry’s top names and teams. 2015 Crankworx World Tour Downhill Champion, Sam Blenkinsop has signed with CamelBak as a new addition to the MTB roster. CamelBak will be with Blenkinsop every step of the way as he takes on the full Enduro World Series this year. The riders of Team Polygon UR – one of the most dynamic teams on the MTB circuit – will be back on the CamelBak 2017 roster. Kenta Gallagher, a top privateer on the 2016 Enduro World Series, has joined Team Polygon UR alongside other top riders such as British freestyle rider Sam Reynolds and 2016 Crankworx Overall Downhill winner, Tracey Hannah. The Santa Cruz x SRAM team continues to be a powerhouse on CamelBak’s roster with latest team addition Josh Lewis joining veterans Iago Garay and Mark Scott. Whistler Bike Park favorite, Remy Metailler and Enduro World Series star, Raweyn Morrison will continue to be key riders on the CamelBak roster.
“CamelBak has always been my hydration pack of choice – even before I joined the 2017 roster,” explained Sam Blenkinsop. “Beyond hydration, I am also very excited to join in CamelBak’s effort to eliminate single use water bottles. This is a mission I believe in personally, so it is one I am proud to represent as part of the CamelBak team.”
Fresh off an incredible win in the 2016 Orsières-Champex-Chamonix (OCC) where he became the first runner in race history to achieve a quadruple crown of first place in all four of the UTMB races on first attempt, Xavier Thévenard returns to CamelBak’s roster, as part of Team ASICS Trail. Fellow Team ASICS Trail member and 2016 Eco Trail de Paris champion Sissi Cussot will be supported by CamelBak as she focuses on tackling the 80km Eco Trail series races in Paris, Stockholm and Madrid. French Alps based, Team Garmin Adventure will wear CamelBak hydration again in 2017, as they take on Europe’s toughest endurance races. Team Garmin runner, Sebastian Camus, will attempt to podium in this year’s UTMB, after a top ten finish in 2016. New to the CamelBak family are Didrik Hermansen, winner of the 2016 Transgrancanaria and 2015 North Face Lavaredo Ultra Trail, as well as Gediminas Grinius, the current 2016 Ultra Trail World Tour Champion.
“I have had my eye on a partnership with CamelBak for years because I use and love their hydration solutions.” said ultra runner Gediminas Grinius. “In my sport every second counts, so even the smallest details matter. CamelBak’s lightweight packs and easily accessible hydration system can make the difference.”
Along with athlete support within the UTMB, CamelBak will return as the official Hydration and Pack sponsor of the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc for 2017. CamelBak will provide hydration refill stations along the routes of all 5 races taking place at the UTMB and is offering hydration refill locations and consumer-focused activations within the spectator areas in the village.
In the US, CamelBak has signed US-based athletes in the trail running, and MTB categories for 2017, including:
