The Vista Outdoor Foundation is supporting 12 nonprofit organizations in Fiscal Year 2023. These organizations represent a cross section of outdoor and recreational causes. Common Ground is a deep dive into each of these organizations to tell the story of our partners, what is behind their mission and how each partner is using the grant.
This month’s Common Ground feature highlights First Tee.

First Tee Mission
To impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character and instill life-enhancing values through the game of golf.
Why First Tee?
First Tee is a youth development organization that enables kids and teens to build the strength of character that empowers them through a lifetime of new challenges. First Tee integrates the game of golf with a life skills curriculum, creating active learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience.
“First Tee’s values of integrity, respect and self-confidence are not only important for the game of golf, but for the participants once they leave the course,” said Fred Ferguson, Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications. “Golf is a growing part Vista Outdoor, so I’m proud of the Foundation for helping the game grow, as well.”
