Vista Outdoor donated $10,000 to Hand in Hand Outdoors to assist with the organization’s construction of an out-camp dedicated to the memory of fallen service members from Utah and Wyoming. The check was presented during Vista Outdoor’s sales conference held in Park City, Utah.

“After a great week of presentations and relationship building, the Hand in Hand Outdoors dinner was a necessary change of pace,” said Amanda Covington, SVP for Communications and Government Relations. “Our team was able to learn from and pay respect to a brave serviceman who has sacrificed so much, including his ongoing health, for our cherished freedoms. After learning more about the war these wounded service members fight after they come home from conflict, many Vista Outdoor employees opened their wallets, and by the end of the hour, Vista Outdoor’s $10,000 donation to Hand in Hand Outdoors was complemented by another $3,000 in employee donations. We have amazing employees who always know when to step up!”

Hand in Hand Outdoors’ mission is to reduce the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and the subsequent high suicide rates by providing healing outdoor recreational therapy to Utah’s disabled combat veterans and their families.

“On behalf of Hand In Hand Outdoors, I would like to again express our profound appreciation for the generous contribution you and the members of Vista Outdoors have made to our organization,” said Colonel Randy Watt, a Utah Army National Guard service-disabled combat veteran and Chairman of the Board for Hand In Hand Outdoors.  “We are grateful for your consideration, as we know you receive lots of requests for support to charitable foundations.  Your efforts and commitment on our behalf is allowing us to move forward with the American Heroes Project faster than we would have been able to do by ourselves.  The disabled veterans, children, and Gold Star families we support will be able to avail themselves of the Camp sooner than we expected.  Please extend our gratitude to everyone in your organization.”
