Remington Goes Big for Green Top Expo

It might be your biggest double take.

Remington's "Big Green Shell" debuted at the Green Top Expo grand opening last weekend, and at about 30 feet tall, it may very well be the largest shotshell in the world.

“Blaine Altaffer, President and CEO of Green Top, and I came up with this idea and started the dialogue in March,” said Bart Biendinger, Senior Manager of Trade Marketing for Federal. “The idea seemed a little grand but once we talked about opportunity for branding for both of us, it had to happen.”

It took about 30 days for the fabricators Chip and Phillip Hudson at Hudson Sheet Metal Company in Virginia to put it together, but the Big Green Shell was wrapped and set just days prior to the annual expo that draws nearly 70,000 people.

The social media attention was excellent with give aways for consumers and lots of photo ops.

"Something of this size will definitely create momentum with consumers. We encouraged them to take photos with the shotshell and share it on social for a chance to win a monthly prize," said Megan Schrecongost, Marketing Manager at Remington.

There are plans with the marketing teams to promote the Big Green Shell and drive additional traffic and sales in their store. The team attempted it, but wasn’t able to collaborate with the Guinness World Records to get it in the books as the official largest in the world.
